Last night I fell asleep with a thought.

How can I get more clients?

I slept restlessly.

I had a nightmare that I was about to have a medical procedure, and I escaped.

People with guns chased me.

I jumped over a fence, and woke up.

This morning, in my practice of allowing and letting be — in particular, allowing without having any particular outcome in mind — I noticed something.

I was not freed up.

I sat with that.

And what came through was an insight I hadn’t seen clearly before.

I am trying to control the market.

I am trying to control people’s response.

If I let go of control, what would that actually look like?

I sat with the question, and allowed for whatever arose.

And this is what became clear:

I do not control the market.

I can only get to know the market by engaging with it.

When I stop trying to control it, the only thing that remains is engagement.

And seeing where that leads.

So then the real question became: how do I elicit engagement?

By sharing myself.

Engaging, per se — without having any particular outcome in mind.

Transformation is found in engagement.

Not in control.

I think this is true far beyond marketing. It’s true in a conversation with someone you love, in a difficult decision, in anything you’re trying to move forward in your life or business.

The moment you’re trying to control the outcome, you’ve already left the one thing that actually creates connection — being present and engaging with what’s real.

You stop trying to control the response, and Awareness Intelligence shows you the next step.

Let me know if you can relate to this. Leave a comment.

If this resonates, and you’d like to go deeper into how this applies specifically to running a business, I wrote about it in a recent newsletter: How the Awareness Method Works for Entrepreneurs.
