When we deal with our issues, we have been been put on the wrong foot, like most of us, by a culture of explaining, looking for a reason, and dwelling in the past. Psychology and other disciplines took Freud’s insight and turned it into a mode of thinking, as a way of getting rid of the things that bother us.

The model of cause and effect does not work very well in the domain of awareness. We easily get entangled in a string of thoughts and habits that grow in our awareness by the attention we grant them. This approach to dealing with our issues leads us on the wrong path, and in the end only strengthens what we feel is bothering us, and separates us from our true nature and the joy of life.

We are the awareness of what we are experiencing, not what we are experiencing. We cannot change an experience. We can only shift in our awareness of what we are experiencing.

Nothing exists independent from our awareness. For something to shift in our experience of life, our awareness of what we are experiencing needs to shift. If we believe otherwise, then we start engaging with our experience, expecting a shift in our awareness. This is the fundamental cause of human suffering and entrapment. Trying to solve an issue, figuring it out, or looking for a cause only amplifies our problems, and keeps us further stuck and entrapped in our predicament.

What we experience is the shadow of our awareness. We misguide ourselves by interacting with our shadow expecting that it will change us, or will change our experience of life.

Learning the art of not engaging with what we wake up with in the morning, not arguing with it, but letting it be, allows for healing our presence. It is only in a space of allowing for the oneness of the experience that authentic healing can take place. We don’t have to solve our issues in order to set ourselves free from what consumes us. Our willingness to take responsibility for what we are experiencing and expand our awareness inside of what is occurring, opens up the door to forgiveness and letting go. It creates the space for redirecting our attention to what really matters in our life and for our divine connection to reveal itself to us. This is the beginning of healing our presence, connecting to our higher purpose, and coming to peace with the unfinished conversations in our life.

Where do you start to heal your life?

Maybe a simple choice to be happy, no matter what the circumstances of your life are creates the kind of alignment in your life gives you perspective, a place to stand that allows you to heal your presence, and overcome the separateness that you are experiencing.
